Why Scriptease

One project file. From first draft to first day of prep.

The reasons a working crew keeps it on the cutting-room Mac — not the reasons a template promises.

Two apps' work, one tool

Final Draft-grade writing and StudioBinder-grade production management in the same window. The script propagates to every hub — no re-entry, no version drift.

Entirely offline

Activate once online, then work anywhere — location, plane, set with no Wi-Fi. Nothing you type depends on a server being up.

Private by architecture

Your screenplay and production data live in one file on your own disk. There is no project cloud to breach, subpoena, or lock you out of.

Buy it once

$99.99 for a lifetime license, updates included. No seats, no renewals, no per-project fees. It is your tool.

The connective tissue

Write one scene. Every hub already knows.

Type it here or import a Final Draft or Fountain file — the moment a scene exists, Scriptease reads it. Scene headings, characters, and taggable elements are recognized and pushed to every production hub. You break down and schedule what you wrote; you never re-enter it.

Scriptease recognizing scene elements — cast, props, and vehicles auto-suggested straight from the script
  1. 1

    Write or import

Start a draft in industry-standard format, or bring in an existing Final Draft (.fdx) or Fountain script. One project file holds all of it.

  2. 2

    Scriptease reads the scene

Scene headings, INT/EXT, day or night, characters, and taggable elements are recognized automatically — props, vehicles, and cast surface as you write.

  3. 3

    Every hub updates itself

Breakdown, stripboard, day-out-of-days, budget, and call sheets populate from the same script. Change a scene and the change flows everywhere — one source of truth.

Tag a prop once and the stripboard, the budget line, and the call sheet all reference the same element. Edit it in one place — every hub agrees.

Your project, your way

With or without a script. A film — or a whole series.

Scriptease bends to how a real production runs. You don't need a screenplay to start, and a season doesn't need a folder full of separate projects.

No script? Start anyway.

Budget, schedule, break down and generate paperwork with no screenplay at all — for when the script isn't locked yet, or your department simply isn't handed it. Build a scene list by hand with real page counts, or write and import later. A production-first door drops you straight onto an overview of budget, schedule, breakdown and paperwork — one project, one source of truth.

Built for series, not just features.

A whole TV season lives in one project — shared cast, crew, budget and look. Write each episode as its own screenplay, from its own page one and title page, and switch between them with a click. Export any single episode on its own, while the schedule cross-boards scenes across every episode, the way a real season is actually shot.

Questions

What crews ask before they buy

Is this a subscription?

No. Scriptease is sold as a one-time license for $99.99 USD.

Do I need a screenplay to use it?

No. You can budget, schedule, break down and generate paperwork with no script at all — build a scene list by hand, or write and import a screenplay later. It's the same project either way.

Does it handle TV series?

Yes. A whole season is one project with shared cast, crew and budget. You write each episode as its own screenplay — its own page one and title page — switch between them with a tab, and export any episode on its own.

Do I need internet all the time?

No. Internet is required only for initial activation and update checks.

Do I need to create an account to use the app?

No app account is required for daily use. Purchase and invoicing data are handled by LemonSqueezy.

How do updates work?

The app checks the official update feed and downloads signed release artifacts from our distribution domain.

Where is my license key?

Your key appears on the checkout confirmation page and in your receipt email from LemonSqueezy.

What happens if I change computers?

You can deactivate an old machine and activate a new one within your license activation limits.
